Urgent Care Certified Veterinary Technician
Position Summary:
At Pet Stat Animal Urgent Care, our Veterinary Technicians play a critical role in providing immediate, high-quality care to animals with urgent needs. You will be working closely with veterinarians in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Veterinary Technicians at Pet Stat will triage patients, obtain vitals and histories, collect and run diagnostics in house, monitor anesthetic cases, take initiative to provide good workflow and much more. The role requires compassion for animals, technical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Triage incoming patients, assess condition severity, and prioritize care

Assist veterinarians with urgent procedures such as wound treatment, stabilization, and fluid therapy

Ability to place IVC, intubate, and monitor anesthesia is a must
-
Monitor and report changes in patient condition during and after treatment

Administer medications, vaccines, and emergency treatments as directed

Ability to calculate basic mathematical drug dosages

Comfortable making and going over estimates with clients

Collect and process diagnostic samples (blood, urine, feces) for rapid testing

Take and interpret radiographs and support other imaging needs

Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners during stressful situations

Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites for emergency procedures

Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in a timely manner

Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of medical areas and equipment
-
Support intake and discharge processes, including client education on home care and follow-up

Monitor animal vital signs and administer medications or anesthesia as directed

Perform laboratory tests such as blood counts, urinalysis, and parasite screenings

Take X-rays and be able to send out consultation reports

Maintain accurate medical records and charts

Educate pet owners on proper animal care, treatments, and follow-up procedures

Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and treatment areas

Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately

2+ years of experience working in a veterinary setting, preferably in an urgent care or ER

Active licensure in the state of Pennsylvania

Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask in a high-stress environment

Flexibility in hours including but not limited to evenings, weekends and holidays is a MUST. Our current hours are listed below but are subject to change in the near future:

Monday 12-8 pm

Thursday 10-8 pm

Saturday 10-10 pm
The salary range for this position is $20-25. Rate is dependent on experience.
